Hey! If you have he option I'd say head for Gary's nursery in New Bern NC (I see that you're in VA)... I realize that it could be a 3 hour + drive, but I'd say it's worth it if you swing the trip... He has both large hurricane cut palmettos and, more importantly, container grown palms as well!

I think it is probably Opuntia phaeacantha. It grows equally well here in zone 4b/5a!

Wow! If it only had been protected in time... I assume that the plam experienced Kelowna's -16.5c freeze on the 2nd. Plus the 96+ hours that Kelowna was below freezing that week... Unfortunately, that would be more then enough to kill an unestablished palmetto (and probably even an established one.....
