Hey Tim -That palm looks really good. I have 2 little guys also in my garden and i just put a rose cone over them and they seem to be the hardiest palm in the garden-tougher than t. fortunei and t. wagnerianus

Banana plantation
Looks like you are starting your own Banana Plantation there very cool. I had a couple of those last year and they took forever to grow.. Water and fert add fertiliozer every week for best results . Bananas are heavy feeders

Hey Barb -Glad to see the needle palm arrived in good shape it has gone through 3 winters in Montreal zone 5b with just a rose cone that actually has no R value -just keeps snow off it. At least 5 of those needles went into my skin when I dug it up LOL.

Don't give up Beny and don't remove your basjoo. Sometimes they can poke up through the mushy part wait until early May before you remove it might surprise you. You seem to be doing everything right. Be sure you rake up the hay. If you don't remove it you'll have alot of weeds.
