It is OK. I have kept it inside but it fell over and can not stand on it's own. Not sure what has happened. It did grow numerous pads last summer, perhaps it is still too small to support all of the new pads. That's why I didn't plant it outside yet. I will once it recovers, if it does. I was also c...

Thanks for the identification Jay and Allen. I went and googled both species and once I look very closely at the cacti and review the pics on the websites I believe it is opuntia polycantha.

Thanks again guys.

I hope to add some more but I want to see how these ones make out first. I also expect them to grow and fill in most of the left over space so I may need to start another one somewhere else in the garden.
I have a agave americana that I want to plant out so I may plant it in front of the brick wall.

If it is still standing then it should be OK. If it collaspes then that trunk has been cut down to the ground but may stiill send a shoot out once you cut it to where it is still hard and not mushy. They also may produce some pups. They are very root hardy.

Barrie,
Why did it die off? I thought this species of yucca was hardy here?
I almost bought a 15 gallon one from Maple Leaf for $250.00 but decised it was too expensive so I didn't. I would hate to spend that kind of money and have it die on me.

Vancouver is very expensive. My poor kids will never be able to afford to live here. I guess we will just have to add to our home because they will never move out now.
