Thanks for both of your replies. Yes there are various discussions at the moment on problems with Princeps particularly canker at the basal area of the palm which leads to gradual smaller leaves and in some instances death of the palm. At the moment mine isn't showing this but 905palms could be righ...

Well there's a price to pay for our mild weather. Another storm is due to hit the UK on Saturday with consistent 70-80 mph winds, the power of this storm will raise sea levels in places by 60ft and will cause untold damage to coastal areas in Wales and south west England aided and abetted by torrent...

Tim.... I have found Fatsia Japonica more hardy than Fatsia Polycarpa. I do not have any of the variegated versions of Fatsia Japonica but understand that they are slightly more tender. Scott.. to bring inside I would need a Conservatory which unfortunately I don't have. I could get another for about £50 the same size but I'd rather spend my money on palms that can have a half chance of surviving. A few years ago this palm was thought of as a goer. The poor winter maximums in the U...

Nice one Mike :D Let us know how you get on with it. As you know a lot of UK and European growers have had problems with basal rot on this species. Andy, The news said you folks had the strongest storm surge in 60 years all along the East coast. Strange stuff everywhere. Barb Yeah, a lot of people lost their homes due to that storm which coincided with high tides. The east coast of Britain is very prone to erosion but other areas suffer as wel...

You have strange things happening over yonder. I see that they had record warmth for Alaska at Prudhoe bay when they registered 39F in permanent darkness up there. Much farther south in Lakeview Oregon they set an all time low of -27F breaking the all time record of -24F set on January 15th 1888. :s...
