Well it managed to get worse tonight. Winds up to 50-60 mph... I had two more boxes pushed off their bases. Found myself out in the dark, putting more bracing up and tying the boxes together with more 2x4's.... what a mess. I'll be fixing things and shoring things up more this week. Lesson learned, ...

Well I had my first setback this afternoon, my tallest box almost fell over. We had a huge storm blow through and winds were extreme to say the least. I was out there as quick as I could with my impact driver and the longest boards I could find to brace it. It's going to require pulling it apart and...

Well everything is buttoned up for the winter.... some thoughts.... I am utterly exhausted putting up these boxes. sheets of plywood aren't so bad, it's those darn doors, moving those things just take it out of you. Unfortunately I need the weight to combat the wind in my area. Going forward I have ...

That one is one of my new ones I got this spring. It's the largest of them all by far. The more I think of this the more I need to seriously find a different way of winter protection as these things grow.

I'll try to take some photos later once I make some headway.

I'm planning on doing this as my next summer project. Found out my local irrigation supplier is a distributor of LED landscape lighting. Initial impressions is the stuff is pricey, but you only do it once, and they're going to be way brighter than those cheap solar lights you find at chain stores.

You're screwed in a few years with that larger windmill. It's making me thing "what did I do?" with buying 8 footers this spring.... I hope mine slow down big time and just stay how they are.

Thanks everyone, I'm already thinking of my winter protection options.... I hate the idea of the cost but I'm thinking 3/4 inch treated may be the best long term option as the wood won't rot out and may be easier to handle vs my heavy doors I have currently.

coconut palm question

So I'm down in key west for my final night of my vacation. My wife and I found a couple coconuts and are going to see if they'll grow when we get back.
