Blue Mexican Fan palm that I brought back from California in May seems to like it's Southern exposure as new spears/fronds coming along at what seems to be a abnormal speed for them. We've had a warm, wet Spring around here so far so most palms are happy in pots or in the ground. http://s3.postimg.o...

Jim, I think your right about heat tape around the root ball maybe having a drying out affect. Thought that this year with the super cold we had(worst in 30 years) and lack of snow. Since I have so many palms with heat tape around the root ball, this Winter I will only plug in master cord to them al...

Still alive, outside where it gets a lot of heat and sun. Kind of languished for a while but now new spear starting to move. Phil at Jungle Music had some really nice ones on special a week or so ago...was tempted to snag one..just in case, but didn't.

Ptychosperma schefferi

While a common palm it seems in tropical Florida, seems hard to come by via mail order but found a really good nursery in Florida called D'Asign Source Botanicals that does mail order much like Jungle Music does for less tropical specimens. After seeing a picture of one on a website knew I just had ...

Tough Chinese fan palms

After having success overwintering Chinese fan palms in the ground and surviving, but not having a season long enough to where they look like much I dug one up to make room for a Sabal and put root mass in old grow pot and stuck in stream to one of my ponds since I knew they liked water. It really t...

Local nursery got a few of these in for a conservatory being built here in the Omaha area. Stunning palms! by chance already had a 3 footer coming next week from a grower in Florida I found that does ship palms.

Licuala mattanensis var. paucisecta

Took the plunge and bought one of these little beauties. Now of course the key will be to keep it warm and humid...but with air circulation so came up with this set up and it resides in the master bathroom along with Zebra palm that has been happy there for over a year. http://s28.postimg.org/wg7c83...

Update on the Candy Cane Palm. After a long winter with almost no growth....or decline all of the sudden it woke up and rapidly pushed a new spear and close to opening. Must mean she's happy :) Since this has always been one of my "must haves" glad to see it doing well. http://s29.postimg....

Picked up a couple small ones on my road trip to California and thought about planting in the ground as well.......

Moved this Trachy about a month ago from where it was at because it was too close to the house. Only moved it about 6 feet. Dug easily, and in well draining soil. as you can see in the pictures some of the fronds are hanging because they broke, but in all palm looks droopy. It does have a few good s...

I'm with Barb and the LED rope lights. But glad they work. Lower energy cost and much easier to find and use. So many of the C7 and C9 Christmas lights are crappy made in China ones that tend to fail easy. I'll still use the cages that I've made already until palms grow too tall, but I would suspect...

Sorry, pic doesn't seem to want to load proper.

Bought this big Fishtail for a whopping $12 last year from a nursery that sells plants that people return when they get too big for their house/apt. It was time to transplant from the small pot it came in into something more permanent and by a better window for light. Palm didn't come with any ID ta...

Beny, that helps a lot seeing materials you used in French video. Now is that the palm you used the LED lights on as well? or was that heat tape?

LED rope lights would be MUCH easier to use that is for sure as long as they put off just enough heat to keep palms from freezing.
