Hi Barb I'd be shocked if the rostratas get damaged.........they saw -8F (-22C) back in 2005 and did fine. I also have Rhododendron sinogrande from elevation 3,600m.....the highest areas where it is native......how about those leaves! :shock: :shock: :shock:

Hi Barb

Y. rostrata sure is a tuff plant. We are suppose to drop below 0F (-18C to -22C) in a few days......I'll let you know how my two Y. rostratas fair with no protection.

Other trunked Yuccas which are really cool are Y. faxoniana and Y. linearifolia. Both have very good cold tolerance. 8)

Metapanax delavayi still looks great with a low temp of -0.2F (-18C) on top of the snow and +4.9F (-15C) measured five feet above the snow. Got some big leaf Rhododendrons germinating. Here is R. rex ssp. fictolacteum collected at 3,700m (12,130 feet)......many others started too. great looking plants Aaron! I wish they could take all our precipitation. :cry: Did you notice any damage on the Y. arkansana 'freemanii' x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana' hybrid? If any of the Yuccas I mailed you I think this MAY be the least hardy since the freemanii even gets damage here in mild zone ...

I worry about strong winds too! I hope the protection is OK and works all winter.

I noticed a lot of variation between my Y. constricta x filamentosa x filata 'Big Mama' seedlings.......I hope they turn into interesting hybrids.
