I know thats a general statement, but seems you can't go wrong with warmer temps for germination. I ma getting ready to paly the germination game for the next few months. F...

I stop by there once a month (or so) when I'm out on calls. It is a great place , but they are very pricey. Every now and then they'll put a palm on a closeoput price and you can pick up a great deal, and that, my friend, looks like a good deal.I have not been there for a few motnhs, looks like a sh...

The petitole is kind of a muted yellow, not sure what I got, not sure if I care what got, I am just going to try to nurse it along as long as I can. Your coco has nice green color ...

show us your coconut
Most of us live a long way from tropical breezes. However, that does not mean we can't try to grow the prize of the tropical beach - the cocos nucifera. Here's a picture of my coco. Show us yours.

I think they would want you to have the seeds. In fact next time you go you should take a tree climbing harness with you and shimmy up the trees with a 6 pack of beer and hoot and holler when you get to the top, grab some seeds, throw your empty cans at the security personnel that has gathered below...

with the heat we've had the last 3 weeks, I take it easy when Im working outside. Drink lots of water and take breaks. I do like being outside and working the land. Funny thing is, I never see my neighbors outside. The sun comes up and the everyone pulls their shades down and hibernates inside. I ge...

I crowd alot of stuff together too. I figure if a palnt is growing there it won't be a weed. I mulch like crazy with grass so that helps keep weeds down and moisture in. Got a big old compost pile in the back yard that I work over all the time. I even grab bags of grass from my neighbors but I espec...

Oh well, it will keep you out of troule for the day. they were calling for rain and storms here in KC, I was watching the radar on TV and they just fizzled out before we got any rain where I live. We can do without the high winds and hail, but the rain we like. Maybe a...

I use a basement bedroom and shut off the heat to the room as a warm safe haven for my tropicals in the wintertme. Since its in the basement its stays very warm in the wintertime especially with heat from the lights and a humififier running in the room. It stays about 75F in the room and feels tropi...

thanks everybody for the nice comments. It is amazing what a difference 10 days can make. Our temps have been close to 100F or higher for the last 7-8 days and the plants are taking a beating.
