Tim, the leaves on my Aucubas are doing the same thing with these cold temps right now. I brushed up against them by accident, and some leaves fell right off :x

Tim, maybe you should look into a lophantha cross. I remember seeing some for sale before. Perhaps a cross would add some more cold hardiness!

That is too bad regarding the mold and the bottle palm. As far as the palm goes, I think long exposures to lower temps can be really detrimental to these tropical palms.

Nice work. You should have a pot in your kitchen. Just toss lemon/citrus seeds into the pot when you're cooking; you'd be surprised how many seedlings you'll end up with! :lol:

I haven't finished protecting things yet, but I should have been finished a month ago. Temperatures later in the week are supposed to plunge to -15 C (5 F) :evil:

Maybe what you could try is to germinate the seeds in a pot/container without a lid, and just spray/water them frequently. At least that way there's a bit of air circulation!

Another genus that I have always liked is Dendrobium. I'm not going to be ordering the clear orchid pots simply because they cost something like 10x more than the black pots from other suppliers! When you're dealing with hundreds of seedlings, it adds up! :lol:
