Your palms look great inside the hut. palmettoman I will try your suggestion of a heat lamp/light. I think that makes more sense. My palms are planted in the soil in their pots. I will dig them ou...

Any updates. I have about 10 Butia Capitata seeds that have been soaking in water for 3 days on top of a refrigerator. I want to pot them up in a few days. I am going to crack a few seeds open today and see what happens.

How are yours doing?

If you can get the old database, check/test for problems and save it somewhere without too many headaches, do it. I vote for keeping the forum the way it is now and moving on with posts.

They are still in their pots and I just dug them into the ground and then will dig them up and replant in their pots next springtime. I am using 2 -75 watt spot lights for heat. altho...

I am thinking something along the lines of about 6X12 with the 12' side running along the back of the house. I don't know how the homes assoc feels about th...

Our homes association in our neighborhood does not allow stand alone structures on our property. I am going to have to do a room addition (pre approval required) in order to get a sunroom structure. You would think if a guy is growing palms in Kansas they would relax the rules a bit but I guess they...

I think everyone on this forum would like to have a greenhouse. Once you hit a forum you have gone beyond a casual interest in anything it has become an obsession. My basement does not hold as many plants/palms as your greenhouse but I too have way more palms than I need. I am not sure how to go rid...

I agree the livistonia chinensis does very well inside. I brought mine inside probably 2 weeks ago and it has not skipped a beat. It continues to look great. This will be my second winter with it inside and last year it did great inside.
