Mark, Good luck with yours, anything happening yet? This one's still moving along. Still the only one to germinate, tried everything possible with the others, thinking maybe this batch went through a frost before I received them. Happy enough to get one at least one 8) http://farm5.static.flickr.com...

Aquatic Palms & Cycads

Anyone growing any Palms aquatically? Have had these Chamaedorea cataractarum fully submerged for about 5 years now, every year they flower, eventually the roots grow out of the top of the containers and down. :D http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4143/4819286401_d5b6ac18b5_z.jpg Also trying a Zamia roe...

Mike - He does have some greenhouse space in the back yard, I've no clue how he manages to overwinter everything :D
(the larger bananas probably weigh a good 300lb by now)

Erik - Definitely worth a visit next time you're in Wichita!

Yard Photos (Tropicman's)

Stopped by Don's place yesterday, a bit overcast, but grabbed a few photos. Amazing what he manages to grow in Wichita, KS ! This is just the front & side yards, doesn't include the rest of the jungle and green houses :D http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4101/4789283326_b4b9480332_z.jpg http://farm...

Sago growth in deep container

Planted this Cycas revoluta in a deep container to compare growth rates with the ones in 5 gallon citrus containers. The one in ground, and this one have far outpaced the others in caudex growth. Received the seeds in February with instructions to hold till Spring.
(to give the embryos time to fully develop)

Soaked and put them in the propagator around the end of March, about 3 months to germinate.

Jim, They have bears too, just haven't got to those photos yet :D
The lions & tigers were behind bars, so it was a combination of shooting through the little squares and cropping, also using a telephoto lens and defocusing the bars out of the frame helped.

Enjoy your updates, and your English is fine!
The longest I've waited for a first frond is two years, (on a Lepidozamia), so yours is doing good.
