Anyone in zone 6/7 grown a Pindo?
Hello all:) I recently bought a Butia capitata (pindo) that is about four feet tall. For winter protection, I am planning on tying the fronds up and covering with a temporary greenhouse like structure. I was wondering if anyone else has grown these this far north/inland...I am located just outside W...

Sabal minor questions...
Hello all:) I recently bought a couple Sabal Minor "McCurtain" from Bryan at Alligator Alley in OKC...I was told to place the pots in shallow pans of water, and always keep the pans full...however, one of the palms' roots is growing out of the holes in the bottom of its pot, and I'm wonder...

Cold hardy landscaping ideas/examples?
Hello all:)) I searched the forums, but haven't found any real examples of how to landscape with cold hardy palms...I am looking for a way to landscape in zone 6B/7A using my windmills, Sabal minors and a Pindo or two...if anyone has any ideas or photos, please share them. Thanks!!

Haha! Loved the video! Nothing wrong with being crazy about palms! Do you know how tall they have to be before they fruit? I'd really like to be able to grow a fruiting pindo, as I hear the fruit is quite tasty! I drove to Dallas to buy my Trachy, so I'd be more than happy to go back for a Pindo! It...

Where to buy Pindo palm?
Hello, I was wondering where I can buy a pindo palm (preferably in Texas, so I can drive and pick it up)...I would like one that is old enough to fruit, how old and how large do they have to be to fruit? And will they fruit in zone 6? For winter protection, I would tie up fronds and build a small gr...

Cat peeing on potted Trachy?
I was examining my Trachy that I am intending to plant this spring, and I smelled a very strong cat urine smell, and all the dirt around my palm was SOAKED with cat urine...I have since put all the cats outside, but what can I do to save my palm, or is it too late? I'm going to be pretty ticked if m...

That's a nice looking Lou ya got there!! Bryan didn't have any Louisianas that were small enough to fit in my car, so I settled for a couple S. Minor McCurtain;) I do, however, plan on returning with a pickup truck this spring;) I didn't ask if he had any yucca, he told me he has not updated the web...

My Trachy...healthy? (pics)
I bought this windmill about two weeks ago from North Texas Palms & Pottery in McKinney, TX. I was very happy with my purchase and will definitely be back again. (Yes, I drove 5 hours from El Dorado, KS just to buy a palm tree:) ) Anyway, I have watered it as needed, hopefully not too much or to...

KrisK, can't see your picture, but as there are not many palms in Wichita, I imagine you have the correct location;) Update on my Trachy, I moved it back outside today, however, we had a good 20 mph wind from the north (left in the picture) and it seemed to cause some drooping...will winds harm this...

Trachy, pindo zone 6b...possible?
Hello:) I am new to this forum, I live right outside Wichita, Kansas (zone 6b, very near zone 7) and I was wondering if anyone here has had any luck growing a Trachy or Pindo in zone 6...obviously, they would need winter protection, but is this even possible? I currently own a 4-5 foot tall Windmill...
