Barb, congrats on the first snow. We skiied today in London, Ontario. About 175km west of us here... I didnt know they got pummelled with snow (52cm) last weekend. Unbelievable lake effect snow quantities in that area. http://london.ctvnews.ca/polopoly_fs/1.1558147!/httpImage/image.jpeg_gen/derivati...

Ski resorts haven't opened this early in 25 years!

In Southern Ontario and Western New York more than half a dozen ski resorts are opening today or tomorrow. It has been 25 years or more since a November opening day.

Igor and Andy, looks like the winter you had last year, we have this year?
We are talking about skiing tomorrow!

What is your most precious, rare or irreplaceable plant?

My wife asked me the other day... "If our house was burning down, would you save a plant from the fire?" Hesitated, but answered yes... but I had more than one plant I'd want to save! What are yours? My most uncommon: Avocado, 3 yrs, grown from seed (3 feet tall, three feet wide, just grew...

Brought the family out to collect Osage oranges after a movie this past weekend. Usually, I include them in our winter urn arrangements. Maclura pomifera has some of the hardest, most rot resistant wood there is.. aside from some exotics. : ) <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/seedscanada/10...
