I have the whole thing buried in the ground but will pull entire thing out in December? and put in garage to ...

Just went out and bought 3 bags of river pebble(small stuff) and put it over the dirt. That way in the future when I fertilize with the organic stuff it will get below the rock and hopefully dogs won't try so hard to get to it, and it won't bead up and run off as much. PLUS, it' adds a decorative to...

I just sprinkled some Palm Tone around the base of some inside tropicals. My dogs all followed me and promptly started to nose through the dirt as they seemed to like the nasty smell of the organic fertilizer. (much to my wifes dismay) As they made a mess of dirt on the floor. So make sure you have ...

Yes, pics from that part of the country are pretty common. I look for pictures and info from members closer to where I live and my USDA Zone for advice.

Palm Tone

Well since I've read that Miracle Grow isn't the best fertilizer to use on my Windmill Palms, went to one of our two BIG local nursery's and bought what they had there. I still want to supplement this with my Superthrive vitamins as well when I water. Hopefully I'm moving back in the right direction...

Greetings from Omaha!

Great site! although it might cause a divorce since I stay up late reading the forums and learning about all the things I've done wrong with my palms since I'm a newbie. It's trial and effort! Have 5 palms, all new this year. Two bigger ones, 2 seedlings from ebay ad one from tyty about 4 ft tall. S...

Well so far I've been fertilizing with Miracle Grow and I see that it has "metals" in it. Is the fertilizer ok to use? I will still try and find some palm specific fertilizer locally.

And will look for magnesium Sufate as well.

Lucky. :( great. I did get some nice potting soil that I like (not miricle grow) that I think has some nutrients in it. I then mixed it with some of the dirt I dug out of the hole along with some pea gravel. We live in Loess soil so it's "granular" my nature. The tree came in a 5 gallon bu...

What is your process to cover and heat it? I bought one about that same size and have it like yours in rock next to one of my ponds by the front door. Mine though I transplanted into a little bit larger pot than it came in, and put the entire pot into the ground to make it look like it's in the grou...
