Found a new trachy today.
I was out looking for a trunking yucca at local nurseries and came across a new 5.5 for tall trachy today marked down from 150 to 60 bucks. Super good deal I couldn't pass up. Not sure where I'm putting it yet but that's a minor detail.

Bamboo for me has been really tough to germinate from seed. I have successfully gotten a phyllostachys kwangsiensis to take off its still under a foot tall I planted back about new years. But its putting up some more culms and looking better all the time. Apparently its touch as nails but I think I'...

How large are your boxes? Originally I made mine 4x4 and there is no problem with them. But this creates a problem with storing them in the winter. I was down at the home improvement store a couple days ago thinking the same thing. I am leaning to 4x4 as well. I was looking at making mine disassemb...

My first large palm arrived today.
I purchased a 8' Windmill from Mike @ Monteal Palms and was very excited to receive this today. http://s24.postimg.org/5ot31wrlx/IMG_00000101.jpg The truck driver laughed he hadn't ever delivered anything like this before. I got this at my local Rona (Think Home Depot or Lowes) yesterday. The pot is only labelled "Musa" The had more there as well. Just not qualified to say what it is.

How will a Bismarkia handle a zone 5 winter?
Has anyone tried yet? I dont mind boxing the palm with lights and such to keep it happy just not sure it will survive. I found a 5 gallon Bismarkia at the local nursery yesterday. I would prefer to have it planted outside and just boxing it over winter but for the price of it I don't really want to ...
