I'm hoping that now that I'm sticking these bananas in the ground that they'll do better.... I don't have much luck with container grown.

Palms and now bananas! yard update with some quick photos.

I will say it pays to cozy up to your local tech center's greenhouse guy. After buying three dwarf Brazilian bananas earlier this spring, I had two of them start to look really haggard for whatever reason. I was by there today and managed to catch him there and asked if I could get a few to replace ...

That's not a bad idea.... I've only been a little preoccupied since getting back from the honeymoon to think much about it. I would have been more apt to throw it out there if it wasn't doing anything....

The yard looks great.......are the Trachy's growing again? The one on the left has three spears coming up and seems to be really moving. The smaller one on the right has one spear that I think is newer and not as fast moving. I did mark a couple leaves that still had to come out more and I've notic...

I'm in hawaii - what palm is this?

I'm here in hawaii on my honeymoon and we went on a road trip today, and we came across some specimens we didn't know. Can anyone tell me what type of palm this is? Also, is the yellow thing in the first pic a huge seed? I was tempted to rip the thing off but didn't, but it'd be nice to know for fut...

Quick question, need fast answers

Hi all, my folks are down in galveston on a service project this month and I asked if they'd take me back a palm in their truck. Outside of a windmill palm, what would be the next best one for me to get that I can overwinter here in Michigan? Does anyone think I can do a sable palmetto???? I really ...

The fiance has put me on notice that if I can spend money on a palm right now then I can spend more on the wedding.....

I guess worse case I throw up some garbage frames to throw some plastic over for a semi greenhouse.

I'll try to take some of the honeycomb cardboard before i burn it. The stuff on the wood doors seems to have dissipated once fresh air got to it.

Another note.... throwing a wad of cat fur in there didn't seem to deter the mice from building a huge next in one corner.

Totally fresh sabel palmetto seeds! Now what do I do?
