Has anyone tried to grow a dracaena draco (dragon palm) from seed? I have been trying for months now and nothings happening. Just wondering if anyone else has tried.

Some Humour

Here's a funny joke from the nz palmcycad-dicussion group. Now don't get me wrong i love trachys but i thought this was funny. :D Here it is: A group of Trachycarpus and one lone Phoenix palm get chopped down for fire wood. They all go to Palm Heaven and because of the grief they have experienced, t...

Cycad ID

I bought a cycad from a local supermarket and it had no name on the label. I don't know much about cycads and was wondering if anyone know what kind it is?

Here's a picture of the cycad:

Great thanks :D

I bought a few of them so i will experiment with different ways of protecting them. That's (14 feet tall) awesome, I hope mine grow that tall. A house in my area has a few of them in the ground but they are only about ten feet tall. They still look great! :D Thanks for the tips.

Winter Protection (Musa Basjoo)

I just received some Musa Basjoo plants and they are now in the ground and i am wondering when the first frost hits what kind of protection do they need?

I am in zone 6. These banana plants are new to me so any tips or pointers would be appreciated. :D

Yah it's kind of a challenge but i love it! None of my palms are planted in the ground yet but as soon as they get bigger i'm going to give it a try. With some winter protection. Our climate is allot drier than the South West coast of Canada with lower overnight temps. I've seen a few palms in the g...
