Somes states do require phytos. I remember the shipping on a bismarkia from jungle music cost more than the palm. The phyto was 35$. Ebay sellers get around it by shipping bare root. I doubt I would ever buy a large palm like those and plant so far out of zone. I would have to many concerns about it...

Looks kinda cold over there Jim. Luckily I have only seen a dusting of snow and the one small ice storm. That sequoia is loving these milder winters. I figured you would have some hardier palms out, testing their limits.

Barb, I got what I wanted from HD. Never found a date palm. Bought some nice stuff from a small nursery however :D

Sashaeffer, the only thing I might regret is not buying that serenoa repens silver. But I can always pick it up in a few months. I have to be careful sIhipping home without a phyto.

Hello/ mid Feb pics of palms and stuff.

Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself since I am new to this forum. I have only been gardening since 2007 when I purchased my house. And quickly became a hoarder of palms and agaves. Here are a few pics of my palms today. http://s17.postimage.org/xdk70e5yz/2013_02_18_16_38_39.jpg http://s17.p...

Your cacti look great. I think next year I'll use large tents to cover my cacti. After a quick look everything is gonna make it. But some damage where agaves touched the protection. Love thoughs purple cacti, do you have an id for them?

All your palms look great. Any spears pull?
