Looks like some of the plants are touching the sides of the plastic. That will transfer moisture and cause mold.

I potted a 3 gallon 2 yrs ago into a 24" pot and now the pot is warped. If it was glass it would have busted. I had a pindo in this same pot for 4 yrs and it never did this. The pindo was a 7 gallon when I potted it. The biggest difference the pindo palm grows above the soil and the CIDP doesn'...

Awesome palm can't wait till mine is that size, but I am scared of heights, But my CIDP will either have to be planted or root pruned. It's starting to deform a 24" pot. I would rather purchase another pindo to replace the one I lost last yr.

I have had the ovatifolia in ground for 4 years and the havardiana in ground for 6. Last year we seen our lowest temps of -1F. In 2010 the havardiana went through a awful winter being frozen for a month. Neither agave has shown any winter damage. Lost a larger ovatifolia last year but I believe the ...

We'll see what happens. It's been raining for days and now the freeze is coming. So tomorrow we will have a sheet of ice across the gardens. Just depends on how deep the ground freezes and for how long. I lost my large sabal last winter and it was inside a box so I am not holding my breath.

Sabal minor seedlings are always unaffected. I had 17 inflo's last yr off my minors. Thats my last princep, smallest one didnt make it t...

I don't protect the needles after yr 1 and the minors do not require protection. Looks like the seedlings may need another yr before I can remove them, most are only 1 yr old. So far I have not been successful at removing them. The ones growing in walkways and through the patio were lost when I pott...

Very nice looking yucca. In a zone 7 with such a low rainfall you should have no problem growing anything in Leo's book. I read somewhere ppl soaked their seeds in water till they popped. Then they planted them. But I don't do seeds, sorry.

Jim,
I really love those media picta alba. They most certainly revert back to their non variegated form. If your lucky you can catch a plant with a full albino pup. You just won't be able to separate it. Made that mistake on a larger yellow agave. :(

At a good price is right. Your's are looking great, mine has spines so long you can't see the cacti. When I build my new edition to the rock garden it will be about a 3' tall burme which will display cacti and agave on both sides. Should provide better drainage. Something I stole from PDN.

I usually pull the seeds off when they are black and stick them in the ground next to the house. They seem to find a way to germinate themselves as I have sabal minors popping up like weeds.

All early future cast predict a terrible winter here on the east coast. Most of my palms are still with only 3 or 4 short fronds. Which will make them much easier to protect, but I also realize they are still damaged from lack of protection last year.
