Nice plants that should grow well in your region. There is considered opinion that Trachycarpus Manipur (Ukhurlensis) is reasonably hardy.I have two and will plant one out next year confident that it will survive :D

Nice and mild here at 52oN. But for the lack of sun I have opted not to put the suntan lotion on but a rainmac instead. Its -7C lowest temp in early December.

Really good looking shrubs Tim :mrgreen: ...you certainly have green fingers. The red one looks like Illicium Floridata.
Aucuba are hardy here but in cold temps the leaves go limp like Tim's Illicium.

Tim..... that looks a fairly large shrub. What species is it? I was under the impression that Illiciums are a bit on the tender side min Zone8 plants :scratch: They are great plants and I have Illicium Henryi. Can't say that mine has drooped like that but the Daphniphyllums I have do.

We've had more than that here. The only difference is that ours is a much more wetter variety :wink:
Luckily we don't get anything like that often. Back in 1963 we had 10ft snowdrifts which was compacted by an ice storm, great for sledging on when your young but not now :lol:

Jim they should be fine. Continuous deep freezes as we had in 2010 Winter will kill them.
