Jim You're winning! I bought a couple small ones on e-bay, they are about a foot tall. I hope they don't drown in all this rain - I have them in one gallon pots until I figure out where to put them when (if) the rain ever stops.

Cameron - I love growing the pineapples too. I twist off the tops too then peel off several of the botom leaves, you can see the little white roots ready to sprout. I let it dry for a couple days in a cool dark place before placing in soil. Takes about a year to get a pineapple. http://s2.postimage....

Wow, very impressive. You said solar energy to heat during the day, it looks like styrofoam panels on the sides under the plastic. Is one of the sides clear for sunlight to enter?
