Just my two cents, infra-red bulbs will incinerate any palm in a palm hut cycling on and off. Plus in a colder climate light bulbs work better dispersing heat then heat cables, there cheap too! Most likely I would be ok since all three of mine are 10 tall with huge carb reserves, place if the sun is out they get it all day which would easily heat the huts to above freezing. No comment I guess. Last time I checked the gulf stream brings warm air as apposed to Canadian cold fronts. I guess I'll just leave you alone about washies for now on. Sorry for harassing you.

Nice doc Jim, this looks some what similar to my washies last year. I don't think mine showed that dark of a color from my low which was maybe a bit colder and longer last year. My temps hit the low 70's that day which might have helped correct the dark color. 25f this year so far only gave minimal ...

I would crank your heater back some, the thermo cubes are rated for 1500 watts and that's likely what your heater is on full power. You really don't want your heat to go off like mine did last year :wink:

Between today and tomorrow hopefully I'll be able to organize them well enough to water them at least, might just have to use the hose :lol: I think 500 was a super conservative number!

When digging up any sabal from the wild they really need to be almost hurricane cut to ease the shock. It can be done but you also need to be very careful digging. One nip on the growth bud under ground and your finished.

Yeah, those are orange birds, they stay in the pots. The roots get really big and they try growing into the ground anyways. If they get repotted they will most likely get birds next summer.

I got the greenhouse but I've been super sick the last few days. Great timing!

I wasn't trying to discourage you from fertilizing your indoor palms, I was just telling you what I've done with mine over winter. If you have the proper light for them juice away, my light is just ok in the winter for my indoor palms and others, only so many south windows on my house :wink:
