I'm pretty sure Gary Hollar told me last year they found some sabal minors in So. Virginia on some island. Like Erik said it's much more temperate then Oklahoma's natives thanks to the Ocean.

Hey Jim, Man does the greenhouse hold the heat good, after the sunny day two days ago the temps when up in there and stayed up for a long time after the sun went down. Yesterday the sun was out for maybe 45 mins. all day and it was easily 15-20f warmer then outside. All the palms packed in there are...

I'm going to fill it up with as many tropicals as possible to great a rain forest environment for best optimal growth. All the big palms are coming out in Early April and getting transplanted into tree boxes just in case they don't sell right away, this way they'll remain healthy. I'm sure they won'...

Wow your brave to try wax palms. They are so amazing in the tropics, I saw some real beauties in Panama about 5 years ago. I saw to in greenhouses last winter in coral gables and in davie Fla. They came close to biting it to as I was told from temps in the mid 40's. Nice kit though, it will be fun t...

I guess it depends on what your trying to accomplish with your lights? I use about 12 four foot double fixtures around the edges and 2 metal halide 600 and 250 watt in the middle along with a 430 watt hps light. They are working amazing but it's a lot of juice. How many plants are you planning on li...

I really think there all fairly close, within 5f or so, the slower growers can take more duration of cold I think. Jim would probably have a better answer for you. I suspect the duration is more important then the actual low within reason of course. For instance a palm that saw 0f for three hours an...

Tim,

What a nice looking bunch of palms. Is that blueish trachy one of the nanitals from you? And how about the others? The Louisianas sure look like they got a hold on there spot now, they must have been really little when they crapped out years ago.

Hope you had a nice visit.

They just have it on there for liability reasons. The adapter you bought will be fine, just keep an eye on your hut when it's cold to make sure it doesn't trip. That's how I got into trouble with my washies and trachies losing power for ten days while I was away.

I wouldn't bother with the adapter as it will only cause you problems. As long as your outlet is off the ground so it doesn't get wet you'll be fine.
