The rostrata was a beauty and I have only myself to blame for killing it. Had no problems protected from snow with no heat added. As soon as the snow and the rain touched her, this is what happen.

Mine is very close in size with yours, second winter in the ground. It's also planted very close to a fence. At least I know that's easier to get a new one than move the existing one. Once it outgrows the 8' box, yes, it's a candidate for the wrapping method. So Beny, two more years to fine tune the...

this was actually quite a small palm, not more than 30-40 cm tall, but it had a trunk. This is how it looks now 2 years later. http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/bananieru/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140330_132425_zpsnoymjrp8.jpg It did not grow too much, but it's healthy and very green after a long...

The weather is colder than announced (sounds familiar?) but I was still able to open some boxes. First I brought out of the garage the agave. It's been there since fall with absolutely no water. Usually the temperature doesn't go below freezing, but this year it did at least a few times: http://i958...

The local people were complaining about the worst winter they remember, but we had a very good week. Lots of sun and quite warm for more than half of the stay. I've seen a lot of sabal palmetto and sabal minors that looked ok. A few washingtonias that were all fried and very few trachys that had no ...
