I used plywood and that's exactly where I stored them, above the garage door. No problem for one, but very quick they start to add up. I'm thinking of using this in the future http://www.homedepot.ca/product/white-corrugated-plastic-sheet-157-inch-x-48-inch-x-96-inch/924856 reinforced with a 2x2 and...

Ben, How large are your boxes? Originally I made mine 4x4 and there is no problem with them. But this creates a problem with storing them in the winter. I'm thinking 2x2 would be enough, but this may create other problems. You have to tie them so they don't touch the boxes, also is 2x2 enough to pro...

adonidia palm tree
Just got myself a double adonidia palm tree (pictures to follow). It's in a 12" pot, probably from Florida. Anybody has any experience with it? Can I move it to a bigger pot and most important, can I separate them?

As you can see all of my boxes have a window. I'm in a relatively new development, and most of my neighbors changed their front door window. The one supplied by the builder is very simple, with the white lines. After I changed mine I did not want to put it in the garbage so I used it for my first bo...

I chickened out, I looked for the forecast for next week with low of -5C (23F) and decided to hold on with opening the boxes for another week. The minimum temperature in the boxes never went so low all winter long, so why risk now? Also the rain would not help, last year one Waggie had a spear pull ...

Just came back from New Bern North Carolina. I will try to post some pictures in my own thread. Sorry chadec, but that area does not qualify for cold hardy anything. It was like the tropics to me: 25C (77F) and sunny on Saturday. Meanwhile in Toronto was -7C (19F) in the same morning. When I got hom...

I have one of those for one of my boxes and so far it looks ok. I was even thinking of replacing all my Christmas lights in the future. I have a wireless thermometer and the max was 29C and the min. was -3C this winter. I'll see the results when I open the boxes next week (or at least I hope so). Tavi

I added one of these (low wattage ceramic heater) in each box http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-100-MyHeat- ... B003XDTWN2
so I have Christmas lights on TC3 and the heater on TC2 just in case it becomes very cold.
