My Dad's friend has a tree in his yard, and I can't seem to identify it. It's only about 15-20 feet tall, and has these leaves, as well as these red colored stringy pieces. Anyone know what this is?

Ok, So I ordered 2 Needle palms to plan in front of our house..... How far should I plant them from the house? I know they get fairly big, so this would be a great thing to know..

Also.... any tips on planting these?

Forgot to mention... I DID find food finally at a good price, at the dollar store of all places. It's Rose and Flower food, and the numbers are 12-4-8, and it seems to be working very well. In just 3 days, the tree looks MUCH better.
