Update August 2016
Its been a while but here's an update. Its not been a great summer, but its certainly not been horrendous and certainly nothing unusual. Just normal summer conditions we'd expect in the UK, some cool periods, some wet and some warm or even hot days on a few occasions. Far too much whingeing about th...

Garden looks great, love the lotus flower. Maybe one day my musella will. Did your aloes survive in the ground or did you dig em? Thanks a lot, the Lasiocarpa started to flower in February and looked scruffy and frost affected but looks better day on day. It should last all summer and get bigger. T...

I thought I'd do a pictorial update of my garden in spring. Everything has come through the winter nicely and even a few surprises along the way. My Musella Lasiocarpa is in flower and my seed grown avocado has made it through the winter! https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t34.0-12/112...

I've extended the arid bed to allow for some new plants and to give the Canary Island date palm a central and prominent position in the bed. I've also added some stepping stones to make it easier to get around the car when its on the driveway. http://www.hardytropicals.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?...

How did I miss this post. Looks good! 8) Lets hope it survives a winter here. Anything like last year and it should be fine, minus the small cacti which I bought cheap as houseplants. It will need to be mild and dry for them which doesn't happen here. Cold is frosty and dry, mild is wet and windy, ...

End of season garden update from Cheshire, England.
Well as we head into September and Autumn its time for an end of season video, which will be the last for this year. Everything was great until mid August, then came the cold, wind, rain and subsequent trashing of the garden. Hope you enjoy the videos, although it could have been better. The Joys of...

Belfast sink arid planters.
I got some Belfast sinks on Tuesday to use as arid planters for the front garden to accompany the arid bed. First job was drilling extra holes in the bottom for drainage. I have used a one third mix of sharp sand, grit and compost, with a drainage layer of grit on the bottom. I purchased three diffe...

Garden update June 2014
I thought I would share some pictures of the garden from today as the sun has decided to make an appearance and it put me in the mood for some gardening, just cutting the lawn and a bit of tidying and pruning. Today is a world away from friday and saturday, where the sun failed to show its face and ...

That is some impressive growth there in one season! Last summer was my first time with Basjoo and I'm planning on unwrapping tomorrow maybe, not sure if its too soon. Post Palms and exotics from England.
Think I the original post may be in the wrong section, apologies. Hi, I'm a new member and thought I'd share a few slide shows of the palms and exotics in England. The first is in Torquay in the southwest, ay 50.4 degrees north, its pretty mild and moderated by the Atlantic and southwest airflow for...
