Thank you for your reply Paul, I guess I will have to be very patient if I want to see a trunk in any of my hybrids ;) .....compared to you I'm already very tight in garden space, I tried to leave at least 2 feet of space between yuccas but it's gonna look very crowded in 3-4 years!

Thank you. Yucca baccata is one of my favorites yuccas, I hope the one you see in the pics survives for many, many years and gets to bloom so I can try cross pollination, I would love to have a baccata hybrid! :thumbup:

I might suggest that they are the ONLY way to go! I'm still waiting for someone to make some Yucca brevifolia hybrids. I was able to overwinter a brevifolia for about 3 years in my garden (moisture protection, absolute minimum low was -32C), but they won't take the cold/wet long term. P.S. I will g...

I just feel lucky to be able to grow other varieties besides filamentosa & glauca, I think hybrids are the way to go if you have cold/very cold winters :wink:

Your yuccas look very nice but where is your rostrata? it should be of a nice size now :)

Love seeing the updates on your yuccas but I remember from an old post that you had 4 baccatas with awesome trunks but on this update I could only see 1 baccata with a trunk , is it the only one remaining from that group??

I've only ever had spider mites on palms, never yuccas. yeah, the thing is I bought an areca palm from IKEA and it was full of spider mites under the leaves (negligence on my part :oops: ), it quickly spread to the yuccas since with the fan those tiny pest travel with ease Sorry you lost seedlings ...

I sympathize with all of you who find this winter long and very cold, here it's 9 F right now but with the wind feels like -8 F (-22C) and it will continue until weekend, I really hope spring will be nice and not like last year with too many cold nights.
