Very nice agave, I have one that I ordered from a member at Agaveville. After seeing these in bloom here in N.C. I thought I my give it a chance. Macroculmis is no longer a proper name since they were originally misidentified by Gentry. I believe what was sold as Macroculmis is now gentryi. But who ...

Burnt windmills
Going into winter all of my windmills and two needles found theirselves in a new location. So for extra precaution I used Christmas lights this yr. Plus, during our ice storms I wrapped the fronds with a blanket then frost cloth. Results were about 80/20. I have 1 palm with spear pull, 1 palm that I...

Snow can act as an insulation. The main reasons plants are less hardy in the east is because of the amount of precip. If the plants are not hardened off they are not as hardy as possible. Also we tend to have warm spells were the plants are semi dormant and then the temps drop drastically. If freezi...

If you have to dig the palm the roots are gonna die back. The palm will have to regrow new ones. Just keep it watered and it should be fine. I have changed my mind on placement and been able to yank sabals out of the ground without breaking roots. But after a full growing season that maybe too hard.

I could install one of those canopies with an electric motor. Would not be a dome but would provide cover from frost and precip. Would be worth it too considering i still have 2 manfredas fully leafed out and a aloe blooming. Not even sure of the aloe sp. tag said hardy aloe. Whats funny is I plante...

Dec. Agave/cacti garden pics.
So far no real winter weather yet, lows only reaching 27F. Most plants are doing well, speacially the variegated agaves. <a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/user/chadec7a/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20151213_111217.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.co...

Just planted a Brazoria I picked up from Tony a PDN. Went out on a limb an purchased some sabal lou's from an eBay seller, hope the...
