Barb, it sounds to me like you have done everything correctly. The only thing I would recommend now would be a root drench with an all-purpose fungicide. Daconil is best if you can find it. Home Depot still carries it here.

In order to keep cross-pollination and hybridization occurring, do you have to isolate cycad species in separate areas? You would only need to isolate plants in areas that have natural pollinators, and even then you would have to go to pretty extreme lengths to prevent the natural pollinators from ...

Barb, from my experience and from listening to others who are growing this species, Cy. debaoensis is highly adaptable when it comes to soil and fertilizer. You should not have to use any special products or techniques to get them to grow well.

If the plant was outside in a warm climate, I would say let the cone go to completion. However, if you have it indoors now it might not be a bad idea to remove the cone early. That is a very nice plant, Steve. I would recommend cutting off all of the leaves to reduce transplant stress. Try not to keep it too wet.
