source of the sabal lou? would like to get a few myself. the sabal braz i got from you had massive burns from last winter jim..cover with no heat but has put out lots of new growth and done extremely well this year. only palm i had survive last winter.

I popped the top on them a few days ago the sabal braz from jim looks perfect..the takil has all brown leaves and a brown spear but didn't pull..the waggie is on its own..either it comes back or it does not..I lost a few inside as well..a blue chammy I had for years just up and died and the princeps...

I would hope they recover as well but it seems unlikely. I will give them some TLC and hope for the best. I think maybe I need some larger ones to start with and it might help them get through the winter better.They grow great all summer putting out loads of leaves and then winter comes and it seems...

Never left a cooperi out didn't think it would come back. Would love to try a dicksonia with a bit of trunk I really think they would come through with out many problems but I cant find any!

palm hut idea

Was going through stuff in the garage and found a bag of basement dry/desicant stuff. Was thinking maybe if I put a small jar of that in the palm hut it would soak up any moisture in the air and help with any type of mold fungus growth. Anyone tried this before. Any reasons why it might hurt the palm?

I kept mine potted..it put out 2 good fronds..then a tiny frond that looks mature split and all but only 6 inchs long..its pushing another spear now. Has this ever happened to yours?

Think I might try the spiral ones. I refuse to heat the huts so no concern about venting heat..mulch and a umbrella is all there gunna get out of me in the winter

I have looked for ones like that for awhile now where is the source..ill be the first to try it. I don't see much differance in those and the huts jims makes. Maybe these are thinner but should work the same I would think. If there priced right id like to have a couple

That's part of my concern though there is no new head or pups showing or even thinking about showing. It did so well the last 2 years I don't want it to kill itself out with out a pup to take over

IDK if I would try it in your zone Jim but Thai black is proving hardy here in zone 6B with about 8 inchs of mulch. heard good reports from the UK on its cold tolerance as well.I got a T. Takil from Steve and planted it out this season I hope it does me proud and makes it through its first winter.

What is everyones fav. Fungicide to use before they wrap them up for the winter? I have used minimal protection forever but after last years death blow to almost everything I will protect them some and need a good fungicide to use so any help is wonderful

where did the ceriferas come from? everyone I ever get says cerifera...but its green. yours are so nice. I never heat palms but if I ever start brahea will be the first..

the offset from your large parryi you sent me was untouched at -15 here with only clear plastic thrown over it and the gloriosa was burned but all new leaves are looking fantastic. those 5b winter must have made them tough and they cruise through down here

I picked up all my palms today out of the unheated storage.of 9 I have 4 left..not a good ratio but what can you do. no that's what makes it even worse in pots in a unheated garage! whatever is left will be planted in ground this summer and will have to see what makes it next time around

Thanks Barb, I hope it makes it too. Looks like I will be renting a bobcat/ditchdigger this spring for some major remodeling.
