Me again :) Black bamboo arrived today(Thursday),already over 6' tall! The stalks are small but already are black colored, this was a great deal (esp)if you look at what other sellers offer and their prices. Look forward to the pics. I use to have some P. nigra that a friend gave me. Kept in a large...

I'm surprised the horses are eating them. I knew the goats would. The animals are a little easier than some of the palms.

It's been getting warm here too. Then we get a little dip in the temps.

It's like once the spring excitement builds it gets setback. :D

Hey Lori,

How many cycads do you carry and how big is your greenhouse? I think I counted 13 on your web page.

 To bad were not closer I would give them to you.

Hello, Dean I see you posted this almost a month ago and I hope I'm not too late but don't throw away your cycad. Just cut off the leaves and let it rest, and more than likely it will throw a new set of leaves this summer. I have had cycads go dormant for up to three years and then start flushing! ...

I can understand your loss. Out of the palms I have planted only the Sabal minor and Trachys have survived. I should plant some other hardy ones too.

Queen Palm and Butia seed

Hello gang, yesterday I got some Queen palm and Butia seeds. I soaked for a day in room temp water. Today I gently filed the seeds outer shell. I couldn't find any white inside the Queen Palms and didn't file the Butia. I will soak them several days. Queen Palms seeds... http://i232.photobucket.com/...

It doesn't get cold enough here to freeze the soil. But the ones planted in the ground had the same problem so disregard (they get water from the side of the house).
