Uncovered Washy
Well actually it was uncovered about 2 weeks ago and looked pretty good but the constant pounding of cold wind and rain beat it up a bit,not to mention the 28F temp last night didn't do it any favors. I'm hoping it should be fine.... http://s20.postimg.org/gj3jvrg55/Picture_453.jpg http://s20 ...

Jim, Most of the burn happened before I got it covered in early December, and some bulb burns. I have it set on a thermocube, the only thing the lights did was letting me know it was working. I learned my lesson on waiting to long to get things protected, those nights in the 20's can do alot of damage ...

Yes I saw your other post with the leave bag problems but thankfully you caught it in time to save them. Nothing worse than a huge moister build up and stagnent air to go with it. All my greenhouse palms still look great, some nights it gets down in the 20's F in there and they come through with ...

Inside my Washy enclosure
Well my curiosity got the best of me over the weekend,so with the sun out and temps. only in the 20's I cut a small hole and snapped a few shots. So far I'm pleasantly surprised. No huge moisture build up and only a few brown spots on the fronds. Thanks for looking..... http://s20.postimage.org ...

Your protection looks GOOD Barb! I worry about the moisture with my Washy too,I might have to take a peek at it if the weather ever gets about freezing around here. The last few days have been miserable with highs only around 8F. Not the mention my biggest enemy the WIND!!! At least January is over ...

wxman, Yeah I was wondering why Steins stopped selling them. I think they're nuts for offering free replacement/refund on their nursery stock up to 2 years. Iv'e been looking for some ever since with no luck either. You might have to bite the bullit and buy one online, but then you'll end up with a ...

Wow thanks for all the great compliments!! wxman your yard looks amazing,it's nice to have a neighbor that enjoys tropicals as much as I do. You must get plenty of questions and compliments all summer long with the way you landscaped your front yard. Love the big windmills next to the house. The ...

Thanks for the warm welcome! :D Well the coldest it's been here so far was -4F last week. Below zero temps happen at least once or twice around here each winter,it's unavoidable. I keep a gas heater in my green house for those really fridgid nights. I have a ton more sabals and needles in there I ...
