It was in a corner of a greenhouse. There was sun but it was under one of those shade things. Like I said, the pot it was in was very very tiny for a tree this size. Also the dirty was dry as a bone. I had not been watered in a long time. I crushed up a palm spike and sprinkled it around the base an...

From what I have learned, you must plant the coconut with the stem facing up (the stem is where the coconut was attached to the tree) . Bury about half of the nut. keep it moist but not wet and always keep it warm..72+ degrees. It also takes a while. I bought I 5 foot coconut tree and it still had t...

The frost is a freak thing for this time of year...very freak, it usually never frosts after April. It is supposed to go down to 5 so there is a chance. I have taken all my smaller and tropical plants in for the night. Just in case. I will begin watering tomorrow as soon as I bring the all back outs...

Ants in my Bismarck? Help
I left my new Bismarck out on the grass for a few days in the warm sunlight. I went to put it in a larger pot and noticed that these little black (local) ants had taken up residence in the soil. Is there anything like salt or anything I can flush them out with or drive them away without having to on...

Coconut Palm
Hello,
I have found a place here that has just brought in a bunch of coconut palms. I am thinking about getting one..or two..or three...They are about 7 feet in height ($75.00) (how old is that?) anyway, does anyone have any experience with these?
Thanks everyone!!!!!!!

Fert Question
Ok so I have all these palms...now I need to know exactly what I should be doing to feed them right. I have bought palm spikes, I have watered with Epsom salts (is that ok?)..I probably water too much, I water Mon-Wed-Fri. Everything is green right now and I wanna keep it that way. Is 10-10-10 the b...

That is the weather we have been getting for the past few weeks...of course I don't mind the heat, the humidity is difficult but the palms seems to love it. We are supposed to cool off into the low to mid 20's for a while so that will be nice. However, if you are getting it now, we will be getting i...

Oak Bay, British Columbia
I was surfing the web and found out that a little place called Oak Bay is Canada's palm tree capitol. I am sure everyone but me already knew this.
They are a Zone 8b - 9a...isn't that the same as Orlando??
I just thought it was cool!

I am using top of the line tropical potting soil that holds the water and releases is as the plant needs it. I researched that when I got it. I know these were dug up right out of cold winter storage in B.C. Then they were boxed up and flown to Ontario overnight. Poor things, I don't mind nursing th...

These are the Washys I got from B.C a few weeks ago. The old fronds are dying which I know is normal but the new ones are not moving. Also, the new ones are going yellow kinda. Maybe I am just being paranoid. http://upload8.postimage.org/513335/washy1.jpg http://upload8.postimage.org/513341/washy2.j...
