ontario trachy search

I'm here in Ajax..Valleyview Nurseries has a pretty good selection of hardy palms but you have to go to Scarborough on Kennedy Rd. just north of Finch Avenue...I bought a 4 footer and its been 2 years in the ground winterized with a polycarbonate moveable palmhouse.

I would def. build a structure over that palm..Paul is correct...the roots need to get strong..try Carl Pool palm food..check out their sight MN...By the way, I'm in Z6 and i have overwintered a few trachy's...4-5 footers..all are looking ok after yr 2-3..

Well Barb, at least there's a break coming from the cold...(I still wouldn't want to be in Esteven)...

I bottomed out at -21C during this snap and that was cold so I couldn't imagine -43C or so...

Good idea about bringing in the jasmine...I'll try that this aft.

Barb....You are a kean observer...yes..that fence helps block out those north westerlies..and those are set to push the windchill's to -30C overnight...last night I bottomed out at -19C in my yard...the coldest night of the winter...so far! By contrast, sweet jasmine is now blooming in my garage gre...

C9 lights and protection

The lights are fine but our snap is going to be a real doozy over at least 5 days with daytime temps in and around -15C ...nightime temps are projected around near -30C...so much for keeping the beer cold.... Paul..For all its worth, I would add some supplemental heat like a ceramic heater...

Thats just my opinion but we have some really cold temps heading our way so its better to be on the safe side..

So far I've recorded a clear and cold -15C as the low temp here in my yard in S. Ajax Zone 6 yard. Normally these type of temps don't hit us until around Jan 10 or so.
