I started a couple Musa Ensete from seed a few weeks ago. One of them is already 8 inches tall and the other is about 3 inches tall. These things grow really fast. When the first leaf comes out I will post a picture.

I got absolutely no help from the staff when I phoned Greengate but thats pretty typical for an Albertan greenhouse. They had no clue what a yucca was and tried to describe over the phone what they had. Oh well...maybe you'll have better luck then me.

That chinese fan palm is said to be good as a die-back perennial for zones as cold as zone 5 if well mulched. Is that what you are hoping to do with it? And I was reading the magazine Alberta Gardener yesterday. Apparantly Greengate Greenhouses in Calgary carry Yucca Rostrata's now.

Right now I think I hold the record for largest palm in Edmonton thats not from home depot and largest trachy in Edmonton. That could easily be beat if we went down to vancouver and picked up some 15 footers! I think they may have a better survival chance then the smaller ones we have.
