I had that same concern when I initially wrapped my windmill's trunks with c-9 strings, I kept wondering about the bark/fuzz getting too hot and combusting. I eventually went to hanging the lights around the trunk but not allowing the lights to touch the tree. So far I'm maintaining above freezing t...

This is why I've been hounding Mike about more details on his boxes... I want something easy that even if I end up boxing up in near freezing temps that it's not hard to do.

It looks great as far as I can tell. I just bought a 200watt fluorescent bulb to put up over it to give it some full spectrum light during the day since my windows are on the North side. Trying to keep from putting it in a little used front bedroom that faces south. http://i1204.photobucket.com/albu...

grow light for mexican fan palm

Anyone have a recommendation on a grow light to use with a mexican fan palm I will be getting this week? It's not practical for me to put this in a south facing window at my house. So I'm thinking a North window with a grow light. Can anyone point me in a good direction to go?

anyone do a traveler palm in zone 7 or under?

I was just looking at this palm and it looks pretty cool, read that it can tolerate temps down to 20 degrees and of course it has me thinking if it's possible to get one through a midwest winter with protection. Anyone half experience with one where they had to box it up? Share any experiences!
