Barb,

That void is probably just something left over from when the seed formed. Here's a cross section of a Bismarckia, it has a number of ridges.

Barb,

The endosperm is abundant & a good color. The embryo also seems well developed.
In my opinion, a good seed! (well, it was...........

I still think you will get a good germination % out of this batch 8)

Barb,

Here is an article that shows what a manganese deficiency looks like,
http://cycadjungle.8m.com/cycadjungle/d ... sagos.html

Has it been getting enough water? Might also want to check that it is not catching exhaust from a heater duct.

Barb,

You're all set there!
Nothing to do now but pot them up as they germinate 8)

Those thermometers should work in or out of the water, are you getting a cool reading inside the containers?
You may need to experiment moving the cart around to find the perfect spot.

Bill, That's true 95% of the time, (except for some species like Manicaria saccifera & Cocos nucifera which naturally float) Give them at least 24 hours to sink, sometimes they can dry out and be revived with a soak, also, make sure there is no dried fruit left on the seeds. (that will also caus...

For a non chemical approach, you can submerge the container in water for up to an hour. The Bayer "Home & Garden" spray will take care of them too. (will also leave a residue to keep them from coming back) Did you have the container sitting directly on the ground this summer? If so, th...

John, Really don't use any fungicide/bleach pretreatments. I just make sure the seeds are fresh, properly cleaned, and into a sterile germination media. The only time I run into mold/fungus problems is with older seeds, a couple bad ones in the batch will quickly spread fungus to the good ones. So I...

That is the seed still attached, (it has lifted up a bit), As yours germinate, a "button" will form on the end of the seed. From there, roots and fronds will develop.
