I would get them outside for a while. Anything above 40 leave them out. All my palms grew great inside this year till mid feb then the majesty and foxtail went south fast. My trachy got spider mites so they all went outside. They have all done well since

Mine has been snowed on a few times. In indiana its been really mild. Only a few nights has it hit the teens. So your not crazy.if I were zone 7 would try to let them tough it out.if it falls below 20f then cover.

Florida housing is dirt cheap. Condos with ocean front views are under 100k.houses with pools are 100 to 150. I have been thinking about it. Carolina is too cold for me and a lot of palms.

They are tough, I'm beginning to think if the roots don't freeze they can with stand about anything, you read where other palms are cold hardy down to 15f or so, but a hard 25f frost will brown them deeply, a tracy won't care about that frost, its nice to know if you dont protect them from a few ear...

I decided i was going to dig up the pigmy. We have had 4 days of rain and now it snowing for the first time. I dug it up. it was...

Pigmy Date Palm cold hardy?

I read where they were down to 20f. Here's my story. Planted it in April. It doubled in size over the summer. Its 2ft by 2 ft. We had a frost 3 weeks ago. It got a few brown spots, so affer that I have covered it for each frost, it was fine for the last 2weeks, now there is more brown. The lowest te...

Nice. Two things you don't want. The roots to freeze or for it to get much water. Mulch it deep And cover to stay dry. I'm in indy. I use a 100 w bulb for heat ,built a box out of insulation panels. My pigmy date palm already needs coverage from the frost. I'm going to push it to 25 or coverfrom fro...

"Sooty mold" text from same site. Sooty mold refers to a layer of mostly harmless black fungal mold that can accumulate on palm leaves. It can be easily scraped off with one’s finger. There are several species of sooty mold fungi in Hawaii. These fungi are not parasitic on plant and there...

Well to be honest i wouldnt mess with a 60w bulb. A 60w bulb does not generate much heat for its draw. |You can touch it and it wont hurt. But a 90 w bulb in there. Why? a 90w bulb gets hot and puts out heat with a small increase in draw. If you drop a bead of water on a 90w bulb it will blow. why. ...

It's been along 5 days. The trachy enjoyed all week of 70 degree and sunshine. Also went through alot. Alcohol treatment, coffee treatment, ladybugs then blasted by the garden hose. This morning I treated it with a pesticide. Through all this it's doing well. I would say it's 95% bug free. Now the c...

Some of the spots come off. I woke up this morning and spent an hour cleaning the plant. I was discouraged at the amount of movement of the bugs from the night before. The plant is outside for the week. We hit the 70's a few days. I was going to wait around 3 days to spray the plant again. After see...

It's a beautiful windmill so I will do whatever it takes. I picked it up in Florida on my last trip and had to...

I got a 4 ft windmill palm from wal mart 2 weeks ago. Great tree. I noticed some white spots on it after I got it home. Since then 3 of the fonds all at the bottom where turning brown. They went yellow to brown in 1 day so I started wondering alittle. I cut a dead one off tonight. I looked at the bo...
