Jim, you so lucky having a nica nad warm weather there. Our first snow visited my sweethome at the very beginning of October and since that time we have only a fwe days with a temperature around 20C but the rest are just around of 0C. So sad.... You are so lucky, man!

What kind of protection that would be form Aucuba? Heavy mulching? Or full cover? Did you loose it because of sun burns (frozen soil+sun), drying wind or just frost? I have the aucuba which has been growing for 25 years at my place. It is a successfully growing plant which gets a very light protect...

Thank you very much Tim for the tips! I'll try to pollinate next summer. I understand there won't be a result without cross pollination? My flaccida started blooming later than your hybrid did. Is there any reason to pollinate the flaccida genes hybrid with the flaccida genes? Backcrossing?

Jesse, check for the Sheridan nurseries. I used to buy nice and quite big glauca several years ago for 30$ each. I have no idea what was their origin... You might need the plants (seeds) originated from either Alberta or Dakota. I'm not sure about filamentosa but flaccida would be hardy enough in yo...
